“So far, 510 accused abusers and 921 survivors of sexual violence have been identified. This is the first time that an independent research team has studied documents on sexual violence from church archives in Switzerland.
“The cases we have identified are undoubtedly only the tip of the iceberg. We assume that only a small percentage of cases were ever reported,” said historians Monika Doman and Marieta Mejer, project managers.”
